Niagara Gazette — Jared Zimbardi won the Patriot Sprint main event race at Ransomville Speedway late Friday night, part of a race card that also saw a hometown veteran driver get his first win of the year.
Zimbardi, who hails from Bradford, Pennsylvania, took an early lead in the Patriot Sprint race and held back a tough challenge by second-place finisher Stewart Friesen, who got within a car length of the leader to give the fans an exciting finish to watch.
Tommy Wickham, Bryan Howland and Paige Polyak also finished in the top five racers.
Ransomville’s Erick Rudolph picked up his first FinditQuick.com Modified feature win of the season, coming in from the tenth position and taking the lead from Phil Vigneri, Jr. on the 19th lap, a lead which he then held until the finish line. Vigneri took second place while the remaining top five finishers were Scott Kerwin, Ricky Richner, and Ryan Susice.
Justin Sharp of St. Catharines, Ontario won the Investors Services Sportsman main event, emerging the winner in a four-way battle for the lead late in the race. Kevin Wills, James Michael Friesen, Phil Vigneri III, and Derrick Borkenhagen rounded out the top five.
Brett Senek of Ransomville took top honors in the Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stock feature main 20-lap race. Senek took the lead from his front row starting position and never lost it. Cliff Brucker, who challenged but just could not overtake Senek, finished in second while the remaining top five finishers were, in order, Mike Short, Brandon Sherwood, and Jaren Israel.
Mike Kramarz of Niagara Falls, NY was awarded the win in the Gippsters Collision 4 Banger division after the cars of both apparent winner Jim Stone and second-place finisher Steve Matson failed post-race tests. Early leader Anthony Guthrie finished in second while Chris Leone, Jay Eck and Brian Monahan, Jr. finished third to fifth, respectively.
