Flash draws with Thorns in home opener

Niagara Gazette — Sonia Bermudez scored the lone goal for the WNY Flash, who played to a 1-1 draw with the Portland Thorns in the Flash’s National Women’s Soccer League home opener Saturday night at Sahlen Stadium in Rochester.

Bermudez’s goal put the hosts ahead in the 39th minute. Jessica McDonald evened the game for Portland with her goal in the 43rd minute.

The game was delayed by about 45 minutes due to weather.

The Flash (1-1-1) next host Kansas City on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
