Niagara Gazette — Empire Revs, based in Western New York and debuting this year in the Women's Premier Soccer League, won both its home games this past weekend including its special appearance at Lewiston-Porter High School.

The Lew-Port appearance came on Saturday, when the Revs defeated their guests, Binghamton United, by a score of 5-0. Bri Smith, who attends Canisius, scored two goals while the others came from Caitie Pfieffer (Stony Brook), Bella Mitrevski (Roberts Wesleyan) and Kassidy Kidd (University at Buffalo). Fellow U.B. Bull Sarah Moore recorded the "clean sheet," getting her second straight shutout.

The Revs returned to their usual home field at U.B. on Sunday, where they improved their record to 4-1 with a 3-1 victory over Connecticut-based Yankee Lady FC. The visitors scored first on a goal by Shawnique Samuels, who will attending Niagara University this coming school year. The Revs rallied from that point forward and didn't look back, with Smith tying the game just before halftime. Alexandra Rohloff (St. John Fisher) put the Revs ahead in the second half while Molly Curry (St. Bonaventure) added a third goal for insurance.

The Empire Revs, which allows elite women soccer players an opportunity to play beyond their collegiate seasons (similar to local men's team FC Buffalo and baseball's Niagara Power), was formed as a partnership between the Western New York based Empire United Soccer Academy and professional team New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. The Revs compete in the WPSL's Mid-Atlantic Division and have more information available at www.empirerevs.com.
