Niagara Gazette — Larry Felser, who covered the Buffalo Bills from their inception and wrote about Western New York sports for nearly six decades, died Wednesday at the age of 80.
His longtime employer, the Buffalo News, reported his death. Felser, after beginning his career at the former Courier Express in 1953, joined the Buffalo News in 1965. He retired from the News in 2001 but continued to contribute articles until 2012.
Felser also contributed regular articles for many years to The Sporting News and was honored by the Professional Football Writers of America in 1984 with the Dick McCann Memorial Award, recognizing distinguished writing of pro football.
He was enshrined in the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.
