Niagara Gazette — In the first game of a Saturday doubleheader, Niagara (11-22, 6-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) defeated Saint Peter's (11-18, 5-3 MAAC) 6-5 behind 12 Purple Eagle hits. Freshman third baseman Greg Rodgers catapulted the offense, going 3 for 4 with three RBI.
Junior right fielder Joel Klock and senior first baseman Ryan McCauley combined for four hits and three runs scored for Niagara.
The Purple Eagles could not carry their momentum into game two. The Peacocks got off to a quick start, sparked by a five-run first inning by the Peacocks, and earned an 11-7 victory. Junior shortstop Thomas Rodrigues went 3 for 4 with a double and RBI for Niagara and s McCauley had two doubles and two RBI in the loss. The third game of the series is Sunday at noon at St. Peter's.
Niagara (4-10, 0-4 MAAC) fell to Iona (4-10, 2-2 MAAC) 16-7 on Saturday afternoon. Paige Matecki, Danielle Maio and Fran Pollastro had two goals each for the Purple Eagles.
