WNY Flash blank Sky Blue, 3-0

Niagara Gazette — Carli Lloyd, and Brittany Taylor scored in the first half, while Aussie Sam Kerr added a goal in the second half, as the WNY Flash defeated the Women’s Professional Soccer League’s top-ranked team, Sky Blue FC, 3-0 in front of 4,664 fans at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester.

Lloyd’s goal came at the 13th minute, while the hosts went up 2-0 in the 35th minute. Kerr’s tally came at the 56th minute.

Abby Wambach recorded two assists in the game, on the first and third goals.

Adrianna Franch earned the shutout for WNY Flash (7-4-6, 27 points), who remain in fourth place in the WPSL, two standings points behind third-place FC Kansas City.

The game was televised on Fox Soccer Channel, the second time a WPSL game has been aired this season by the cable soccer network. The Flash’s regular season finale on August 17 against the Boston Breakers is also slated for broadcast by Fox Soccer.
