Niagara Gazette — Canisius High School was crowned this year's winner of the Niagara PAL Team Camp basketball tournament, going 6-0 in the tournament and defeating longtime archrival St. Joe's in the final, 57-44. 

Niagara Falls High School entered two teams in the tournament, with Team 1 going 1-2 for the day, defeating East Aurora, 50-37, while losing to St. Joe's and Canisius by scores of 59-50 and 61-38, respectively.

NFHS Team 2 went 4-1 for the day, defeating St. Joe's, 60-49, followed by a 62-45 win over East Aurora and 61-42 win over Depew in the preliminary round. After beating Sweet Home 63-47 in the quaterfinals, NFHS Team 2 fell to the eventual champs in the semis, 59-51.


• The Goodfellas Pizzeria Yankees defeated the Cardamone Chiropractic Nationals in Hyde Park Babe Ruth minors action. Jason Winstanley, Tyler Kennedy and Zach Winker all hit doubles for the Yankees. Antwain Gandy tripled for the Nationals, while Lewis Tyzak took the loss on the mound but struck out 10 batters in the effort.

• Dasani Jones and Zach Stanley pitched three innings apiece and combined for 10 strikeouts, while Jones also drove three runs home as the Subway Indians beat the Halleen's Automotive Athletics, 12-4, in Town of Niagara Boys Majors play. Austin Bailer's two hits were both doubles, while Eddie Foucha tripled for the winners. For the Athletics, Ben Schul and Randy Strong both doubled, with Strong getting two RBIs.


• Lisa Hamilton led Flight A in stroke play with her score of 41, but Sue Kosikowski was the Flight's low putts leader and co-leader in the weekly tournament at last Friday's Betty Sdao's Friday Ladies Memorial Golf League at Hyde Park. Kosikowski led with 12 in low putts while she and Kaitlyn Locey both scored 28 in the weekly tournament.

Dorothy Gatto was the Flight B winner in stroke play (35) and low putts (15) while Henrietta Ingham was the Flight C leader in those categories with scores of 34 and 13, respectively.
