Empire Revs advance in women's soccer playoffs

Niagara Gazette — Empire Revs Buffalo advanced in the conference playoffs of the Women's Premier Soccer League Saturday, defeating Boston Breakers Academy, 3-1, at the University at Buffalo.

After a scoreless first half, Niagara University student-athlete Bri Catipovic set up Canisius College's Bri Smith, who scored in the 49th minute. Smith scored her second goal in the 52nd minute.

Boston cut the lead to 2-1 in the 59th minute on a goal by Stephanie McCaffrey, but Smith completed her hat trick in the 65th minute to cement the Revs' victory. 

Empire Revs will face their next playoff opponent, New England Mutiny, this afternoon at UB beginning at 3 p.m.
