The Buffalo Bisons returned from the Triple-A All-Star Break by beginning a six-game road swing and dropping Thursday night’s game against the Pawtucket Red Sox, 5-2.
Alex Hassan put the hosts into the lead with a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning. Buffalo responded in the third with a game-tying run, scored by Ryan Goins on Kevin Pillar’s ground-rule double.
Pawtucket took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth when Travis Shaw singled Shane Victorino home, followed by Shaw coming home with what proved to be the game-winning run on Carlos Rivero’s base hit. The PawSox added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Aaron Sanchez (0-3) took the loss for Buffalo, who fell to 48-49 in the International League’s North Division.
