Durham downs Bisons, 4-2

Niagara Gazette — Durham downs Bisons, 4-2

Jeremy Moore’s two-run homer in the third brought home what proved to be the winning run as the visiting Durham Bulls defeated the Buffalo Bisons, 4-2, Friday night at Coca-Cola Field.

Moore’s homer built the Bulls’ lead to 3-0 at that point. Durham took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Wilson Betemit walked with the bases loaded, scoring Robby Price.

The Bisons got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning when A.J. Jiminez singled to score Kevin Pillar. Jiminez brought Ryan Goins home with a sacrifice fly to cut Durham’s lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth.

Durham picked up an important insurance run in the top of the ninth, when Vince Belnome doubled to score Justin Christian.

Deck McGuire (3-5) took the loss for the Bisons while Nate Karns (6-5) got the win and Jeff Beliveau picked up his 11th save.

The Bisons (48-47) and Bulls (52-44) will play the third game of their series this evening at 7:05 p.m.

• Earlier in the day, the Bisons announced that their parent club, the Toronto Blue Jays, have selected the contract of infielder Dan Johnson, who was selected for the International League All-Star Game but will instead be up with the American League team.

The Jays also opted Friday to designate right-handed pitcher Bobby Korecky, also an IL All-Star, for assignment.
