Niagara Gazette — The Buffalo Bisons took both games of a doubleheader Wednesday at Coca-Cola Field, sweeping the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders by scores of 3-1 and 1-0.
Dan Johnson scored what proved to be the game-winning runs in both seven-inning contests.
The second game, the 3-1 final, saw the RailRiders go up 1-0 in the second inning. Buffalo responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Both runs were walked home with the bases loaded, but Eric Kratz and Dan Johnson.
Mike Nickeas added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring on a passed ball by Austin Romine.
Brett Cecil (1-0) got the win on the mound in the nightcap, while Steve Delabar picked up his first save of the season. The losing pitcher for the RailRiders was Nik Turley (0-1).
In the first game of the day, the only run came in the eighth inning, an extra inning in a scheduled seven-inning game. Johnson hit his 17th home run of the season over the right field fence.
Ryan Tepera (3-3) got the win for Buffalo.
The Bisons (45-40 IL North) host the RailRiders again tonight at 6:05 p.m. for the team’s annual Buffalo Philharmonic night, which ends with fireworks and patriotic music to celebrate the Independence Day holiday.
