College Lacrosse: Mixed results for NCCC men & women

Niagara Gazette — SANBORN - For the first time since its inception in 2010, the Niagara County Community College women’s lacrosse program defeated Herkimer Community College, doing so with a 10-9 win at NCCC on Wednesday.

April Maziarz scored three goals and one assists to lead the Thunderwolves.  Jill Slomba added two goals and Lexi added one goal and two assists.  Savannah Fauzey made 11 saves to secure NCCC’s first win of the season.  The women’s team improved its record to 1-2 on the season.

The men’s team, meanwhile, squandered a 4-0 lead on its way to a 16-6 loss to visiting Cayuga Community College.

Freshman Steve Keefer netted two goals for the Thunderwolves, who fell to 1-8 on the season.

Both teams return to action on the road Saturday, when the men travel to Monroe Community College and the women face Broome Community College.
