Bisons double up on Toledo, 4-2

Niagara Gazette — Mauro Gomez's three-run home run in the top of the third inning lifted the Buffalo Bisons to a 4-2 win over the Toledo Mud Hens at Fifth Third Stadium in Toledo, Ohio Friday night, giving Buffalo a victory to start an eight-game road swing.

The homer was Gomez's 28th of the season and came with the Bisons having two outs and two on base holding a 1-0 lead at the time.

Gomez drove home Buffalo's first run as well, doubling off the outfield wall in the top of the first to score Moises Sierra.

Kevin Pillar hit twice for Buffalo, including a double, while scoring one of the runs driven home by Gomez's third inning homer.

Chien-Ming Wang pitched well for the Bisons, giving up just four hits in seven innings to earn the win, improving his record as a Bison to 2-2 and his International League season record to 6-6.

Friday night's victory was the fourth in a row for the Bisons, who improved their record to 54-51 and currently sit in third place in the International League's North Division, three games behind the Pawtucket Red Sox, who lost their second straight game.

The Bisons and Mud Hens will play the second game of their three-game series tonight beginning at 7 p.m. Ricky Romero (2-4) is scheduled to start on the mound for Buffalo. Toledo's record fell to 46-62 and is expected to send Shawn Hill to the mound tonight.
