Niagara Gazette — Friday night's severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall forced the postponement of the Niagara Power's scheduled home game against the Hornell Dodgers and Ransomville Speedway's scheduled race card.
Although the Power game was originally delayed by 30 minutes, once the clouds continued to roll in and the rain intensified it was pretty clear there would be no ball at Sal Maglie Stadium.
Friday's scheduled game against the Dodgers has been moved to Tuesday, July 23 at 3 p.m. at Maglie. The Power will also play their scheduled game against Geneva that evening at 7 p.m.
Ransomville Speedway officials, meanwhile, say they made the decision to cancel shortly after their gates opened. By viewing weather radar, they made the determination to put the safety of spectators first, and call off the racing schedule.
The second VP D98 Sportsman series event scheduled for Friday night will be held next Friday, July 26, along with a full racing schedule, 4/6 Cylinder Enduro, autograph night and first annual Rib-fest cookoff.
Rain-checks from July 19 will be honored at that time, race track officials said.
