Bisons beat RailRiders, 7-1

Niagara Gazette — The Buffalo Bisons head into Triple-A baseball’s own All-Star Break on a winning note, defeating the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders Sunday, 7-1, at Coca Cola Field in downtown Buffalo.

Ricky Romero (2-3) won his second straight start, surrendering the RailRiders’ only run of the game but holding them to just four hits in eight innings of work. Romero struck out four and walked just one.

Sean Ochinko hit his third home run of the season, and his second in as many days, while Buffalo native Jim Negrych had two RBIs for the Herd.

Munenori Kawasaki, appearing in just his fourth game for the Bisons this season and his first since June 27, scored two of Buffalo’s seven runs.

Buffalo heads into the Triple-A All-Star Break with a record of 49-47 and sits in third place in the International League’s North Division, three and a half games behind the first place Pawtucket Red Sox. 

Following Wednesday’s Triple-A All-Star Game in Reno, Nevada, the Bisons will resume their schedule at home Thursday against the Toledo Mud Hens, beginning at 7:05 p.m.
