Power splits doubleheader vs. Geneva

Niagara Gazette —

After a 5-1 victory over the Geneva Twins on Wednesday, the Niagara Power had to wait out a rainstorm before putting their three-game winning streak on the line Friday afternoon.

The Power’s three-game winning streak came to a halt as they split a doubleheader with the Geneva Twins in a New York Collegiate Baseball League matchup.

The Twins would take game one of the doubleheader on a two-strike, two-out game-winning double to right in the top of the seventh inning off of The Power’s Caleb Jordan to take a 3-2 lead.

Daniel Sharpe would get the next three batters out for Geneva in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win.

In game two, the story was much different for the Power in the fifth inning off the bat of Bobby Twitty.

Twitty, who hit a three-run homerun on Monday against Hornell, hit a grand slam to put the Power up 6-0 — a lead they would not lose. He would finish the game 2 for 3 with two hits and four RBIs.

Hunter Lewis got the win on the mound, going five innings allowing just three hits and striking out three. Travis Laitar got the save.

The Power are now 4-2 in the league and will have off on Saturday before traveling to Wellsville to take on the Nitros Sunday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
