Women's Porter Cup final round today

The rain washed out Thursday's planned second round of the inaugural Women's Porter Cup at Niagara Falls Country Club. Play is set to resume this morning at 8 a.m.

However, it is not a makeup of yesterday's play. Tournament officials announced Thursday that instead of pushing the Cup into the weekend, the tournament has been shortened from 54 to 36 holes, keeping today's round the final 18 holes of play.

Leading the Women's Porter Cup heading into the second and last round is Casie Cathrea of Livermore, Calif., who shot a 65 on Wednesday and holds a three-stroke lead over Krista Puisite of Latvia. Tied for third are Prima Thammarak of Thailand and Emily Collins of Colleyville, Tx.

Clarence native Catherine Peters is the leading local competitor, tied for 15th heading into today's round after shooting a 74 on Wednesday.
