Bax chosen for Jr. Sabres' Quebec team

Niagara Gazette — Leo Bax of Newfane has been named as part of the Buffalo Junior Sabres 12U squad that will compete in the 55th Annual Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City.

Bax, who plays forward, was chosen among numerous prospects from as far east as Syracuse who tried out for the Jr. Sabres 12U team, which will be coached by former pro player Rory Fitzpatrick.

Goaltender Connor Hasley of North Tonawanda, meanwhile, was named an alternate.

The tournament will be held February 12-23, 2014 and has historically featured many current and former National Hockey League players over the years.
