Local Colleges: NU men's soccer, NCCC women's hoops win

Niagara Gazette — The Niagara University men’s soccer team ended its regular season home schedule Wednesday with a 1-0 win over Marist at Niagara Field.

Freshman Nicholas Watson scored the game’s only goal in the 30th minute, picking up the ball off a clearing attempt by a Marist defender then moving in on the Red Foxes goal and scoring into the low right corner of the net.

Senior Nick Garcia made a key defensive play that preserved Niagara’s lead, making a sliding save with his goalkeeper out of position and clearing the ball from the front of the Niagara net.

Niagara improved its record to 5-11-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the MAAC, while Marist drops to 3-14-0 on the year and 2-7-0 in conference play.

The Purple Eagles have one remaining game in their regular season schedule, traveling to Manhattan College this Saturday.
