Jr. Sabres lose in shootout, 2-1

Niagara Gazette — Darren McCormick scored the Buffalo Jr. Sabres' only goal in regulation and scored in the shootout, but the host Georgetown Raiders had the final say in their 2-1 shootout victory over Buffalo in their Ontario Junior Hockey League matchup Saturday night.

Liam Board netted the winner for the Raiders.

McCormick's goal was his 11th of the season, the most among Jr. Sabres players so far this season.

Brandon Mueller stopped 39 shots for the Jr. Sabres, who gained a point and hold first place in the Ontario Junior Hockey League West Division with 26 points. The second-place Raiders gained a point on Buffalo in the standings and trail by just three points, but Buffalo continues to hold three games in hand.

Buffalo (12 wins, 3 losses, 1 overtime loss and 1 shootout loss) hosts the Lindsay Muskies on Monday night at the Northtown Center at Amherst, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
