Niagara Gazette — There was no ninth inning walk-off comeback this time, as the Pawtucket Red Sox held the Buffalo Bisons to just six hits while serving the hosts an 8-1 loss at Coca Cola Field Sunday evening.

Anthony Gose was the Bisons’ top player in the game, getting two of the Herd’s hits and scoring their only run, which came in the bottom of the eighth.

For Pawtucket, Dan Butler drove home three runs on two hits, two of them coming off his double in the top of the ninth inning.

Justin Germano (7-8) took the loss for Buffalo while Anthony Ranaudo (1-0) earned the win for the Red Sox, who snapped a four-game losing streak and kept Buffalo from gaining any more ground in the tightening race in the International League North Division. The PawSox (60-55) remain in second place and just two games behind the division leading Rochester Red Wings. Buffalo (58-56) has fallen into a tie for third place with Lehigh Valley and sits three and a half games behind Rochester.

Buffalo and Pawtucket are now split 1-1 so far in their four-game series and resume it tonight at Coca Cola Field, beginning at 7:05 p.m.

Chien-Ming Wang (6-7) is scheduled to start for Buffalo while Allen Webster (5-4) will start for the PawSox.
