Johansson gets shutout in Lew- Port JV hockey|Area Sports: Johansson gets shutout in JV hockey

Niagara Gazette — Kyra Johansson turned aside all shots faced as LewPort blanked Starpoint, 4-0, in a season-opening matchup for both schools in JV hockey.

Jacob Thomason, Simon Brydges, Liam Mazierski and Shawn Duffy all scored goals. Braden Regisand Chris Corbetta both recorded two assists. James Nossavage had an assist as well.


• Bill Cline scored five goals to lead the Wild over the Canadiens, 7-4, in Honey’s Alumni Senior League action this week.

Mike Cosaro and Greg Delgado also netted goals for the first place Wild. Kevin KcCumber scored twice for the Canadiens, while Tom DeRosa and Ken Kley added goals.

• In other Honey’s Senior League action, Stu Leslie scored twice for the Leafs, who blanked the Kings, 6-0. Also getting goals for the winners were Brian Valint, Scott Miller, Guido Virtuoso and Tom Hyde.

• The Bruins and Flyers skated to a 1-1 tie in the Honey’s league. Chris DeMarco scored for the Bruins while Joe Simonick had the Flyers’ only goal.

• Louie Zaninovich had a hat trick for the Rangers, who defeated the Sabres, 5-3. Pete Herbst and Al Forsey also scored for the winners. Nick Manzone scored twice for the Sabres, while Jeff Celer added a goal.

• Jerry Bucholtz, Brad Halgash and Phil Stoddard scored two goals apiece as the Canadiens defeated the Leafs, 7-2. in the Niagara Falls Over-40 Alumni Hockey League. 

Al Rusk also scored for the Canadiens, while Pete Herbst and Patsy DeSimone netted the goals for the Leafs.

• In other Over-40 action, Mike Smith had a hat trick to lead the Bruins over the Hawks, 6-1. Tim Osborg, Tim Swartz and Dale Retzlaff also scored for the Bruins while Gary Pusateri had the Hawks’ lone goal.
