Power split doubleheader with Nitros

Niagara Gazette — The Niagara Power split a Father's Day doubleheader on the road, dropping their first game against the host Wellsville Nitros, 7-6, in what was a back-and-forth game that saw Niagara provide plenty of punch at the plate.

Benjamin Pickard, Bobby Twitty, Scott Gillespie, Perry Rigby and Cameron Wilkie all hit home runs, while Wellsville's Scott DeJong, Shane Barley and Tyler Lau homered for the hosts.

The Power led the game until the seventh inning, when the Nitros scored three runs to even the score at 6-6. The following inning they scored the go-ahead run.

Micah Mabe (0-1) took the loss for the Power in the first game.

Niagara avenged the loss by winning the second game, 13-8.

The Power improved its record to 5-3 and will face the Nitros again in Wellsville on Monday, beginning at 5 p.m.
