Bisons rout RailRiders, 8-2

Niagara Gazette — Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Marcus Stroman got his first career win at the Triple A level, striking out nine batters and allowing five hits but no runs, as the Buffalo Bisons cruised to an 8-2 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders Wednesday at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo.

The Bisons, who took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, then built their lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Chris Getz opened that inning with a single. Steve Tolleson had an RBI triple, while Juan Francisco and Kevin Pillar hit RBI doubles that inning. Matt Tuiasosopo also had an RBI.

Brett Carroll drove in two runs with a single in the bottom of the seventh that put the Herd ahead 8-0 at that point.

The RailRiders got two runs in the eighth inning to break the shutout.

The Bisons (7-3) and RailRiders (5-6) will play a doubleheader today, with one game scheduled to make up for a weather-related postponement earlier this week. The first game begins at 12:05 p.m.
