Ransomville Speedway honors its top 2013 drivers

Niagara Gazette

Niagara Gazette — For Pete Bicknell, it was a familiar scene at Lewiston #2 Fire Company on Friday night as he claimed his award after another season leading his division at Ransomville Speedway.

Bicknell, from St. Catharines, Ont., won his 13th Mighty Taco Modified Division championship in 2013 and, along with second place finisher Erick Rudolph and third place finisher Chad Brachmann, were honored at Ransomville Speedway's annual end-of-season award banquet.

More than 240 guests were in attendance to recognize the top three finishers in all of the speedway's divisions, as well as honor some individual drivers.

These included Jesse Cotriss, who along with winning the Investors Services Sportsman Division title, was named the track's Driver of the Year. It was his first season championship this year and he held back challenges from two past champs along the way: James Michael Friesen, who finished second overall in 2013, and last year's champion Don Spatorico, who placed third.

Pat Dell ended several seasons of frustration with the Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stock championship. Finishing second was defending champion Alex Morris, with Brian Lonneville taking third.

Chris Leone was crowned the champion in the Fireball class after being the runner up in 2012.  Last year's champion, Jim Stone, finished second overall in 2013 while Ashley Harbison placed third.

Austin Susice, who competed last year in the Speedway's Go-Kart Division, won four races this year on his way to clinching the Gippsters Collision 4 Banger division championship. Finishing a very close second was Mike Kramarz. Brett Senek, who also drove in the Go-Kart division last year, finished third.

Champions were presented with a watch by First Jewelers while their "significant others" were presented with racer's pendants.

The next race to be hosted at Ransomville Speedway is the Hangover 150, which will be held New Year's Day.
