GI's Neutz nominated for national awards

Niagara Gazette — Grand Island’s Alex Neutz, a senior wide receiver on the University at Buffalo football team, is one of 170 candidates nominated for the 2013 National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete Awards. In addition, Neutz is a semifinalist for the 2013 William V. Campbell Trophy, which is awarded to an individual deemed the nation’s top scholar-athlete while playing football at any collegiate level.

Neutz, who graduated in May with a degree in management and is currently enrolled in graduate school, carries a 3.6 grade point average. On the football field, he leads UB with 27 catches for 414 yards and four touchdowns so far this season.

The 2012 second team All-MAC receiver is currently on the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, awarded to the nation’s top wide receiver.
