• SPARTAN TRAVEL: Due to an overwhelming turnout, the Spartants 10U through 12U level teams are holding tryouts to fill a second team. Tryouts for the 2014 season will be held Saturday, Oct. 12 beginning at noon at Harley Field in Lockport. Check in is set for 11:30 a.m. For more information, contact Tony Milone at or 716-465-1607.


• LEWISTON GIRLS HOOPS: The Village of Lewiston Recreation Dept. is sponsoring a Girls’ Basketball Program starting Saturday at the Lewiston Red Brick Gym, N. 4th St. and Onondaga St. The six sessions will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. on the following dates: Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26, and Nov. 2 and 9. Girls should be in grades 2-8. The sessions include instruction on basketball fundamentals as well as game action. The coaches for the program will be Dave Bevacqua and Jeff Gruarin. There will be a $5 cost for the sessions. There will be theme days to encourage fun while learning and playing. Registration forms are available at the Village of Lewiston Recreation Center. • LEWISTON EVENT CENTER: The Lewiston Event Center (formerly Frontier Lanes) is starting a new, every-other-week mixed league on Saturday nights. League starts at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19. Moonlight bowling will be starting in mid-October. For further information on the above leagues or anyother leagues please call 754-8248.
