Gleason's Level 7 gymnasts place third

Niagara Gazette — Gleason’s Gymnastics Level 7 gymnastics team placed third overall at the Lucky Stars Gymnastics meet in Jamestown last weekend.

Samantha Peterson, a sophomore at Niagara-Wheatfield High School, scored a 9.55 on floor — her first time competing in the event since December — and finished first in the event. She also placed second on beam with an 8.5 and scored an overall 33.9 to finish sixth individually.

Caitlin McMahon, also of Wheatfield and a student at St. Francis of Assisi School, finished seventh individually with her all-around score of 35.225. That included a third-place finish on vault with a score of 9.375.

Jenna Peterson, a seventh grader at Edward Town Middle School, had an all-around score of 34.8 which included a 9.2 on floor, 8.625 on vault, 8.6 on beam and an 8.375 on bars.

Gleason’s Level 8 team also participated. Team member Katie Harding, a ninth grader at Niagara-Wheatfield, earned her best all-around score of the season with a 34.125, ranking her ninth in her age group. Her scores included a second-place finish on beam at 9.325, a 9.050 on the floor, a 7.9 on the uneven bars and a 7.85 on the vault.
