Local gymnasts place at Niagara Cup

Niagara Gazette — Three local gymnasts were among those who placed high in events at the 33rd annual Niagara Cup, hosted by Gleason’s Gymnastics at the Koessler Center at Canisius College this past weekend.

Samantha Peterson, a sophomore at Niagara-Wheatfield High School, placed sixth in vault in with her score of 8.35. Competing in her first meet since a November knee injury, Peterson also scored an 8.1 on beam.

Caitlin McMahon, also of Wheatfield and an 8th grader at St. Francis of Assisi school, placed second in vault with a score of 9.30, and sixth on floor with her score of 9.0. She finished with an overall score of 34.15.

Jenna Peterson, a 7th grader at Edward Town Middle School, had an all-around score of 35.1 that included a 9.075 on floor, an 8.8 on both vault and beam and an 8.425 on bars.
