Niagara Gazette — The VFW Post 917 Red Sox rallied from a three-run deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning on their way to a 7-6 win over the Goodfellas Yankees in Hyde Park Babe Ruth baseball's Minors division.

Patrick Keiper had two hits for the Red Sox while Jason Brady, Jr. hit a double. For the Yankees, Zack Winker hit a double. Yankees pitcher Tyler Kennedy struck out 12 Sox batters.

Previously, the Red Sox defeated the Felicetti Concrete A's, 14-2. Jace Luchese scored three RBIs on two hits whole Riley Cardinali drove in two runs on two hits. Brady struck out eight of nine batters and allowed only one hit in three innings pitched. Roderick Miller had two hits for the A's.

Whirlpool Majors

David Colangelo struck out six in four innings and was the winning pitcher as the Harris & Lever Florist Yankees defeated the Se. George Maziarz Diamondbacks, 9-4. 

Grant Asklar had four hits including two triples. He also scored two runs. Gadge Choolokian and Lenny Jacobs both hit twice for the Yankees, while Michael Stevens hit a double.

Buffalo and WNY Travel Soccer League

The Niagara PAL Eagles 16U girls soccer team was victorious in its first game of the outdoor season, defeating the Pioneer Patriots, 2-0. Marrissa Campbell and Becka Sliwowski scored the goals, while Shannon Martineau and Jenna Giaonnini pplayed solid defense, allowing goalkeeper Justine Perreault to earn the "clean sheet."
