O'Hara beats Lockport for Kiwanis hoops title

Niagara Gazette — Cardinal O'Hara built up a 42-19 lead by halftime and never looked back as it defeated Lockport High School, 72-54, in the championship game at the Lockport Kiwanis girls basketball tournament Saturday.

Keyonte' Edwards of O'Hara was named the tournament's MVP. She had a double-double in the title game, scoring 11 points and taking 10 rebound. Teammate Kelsey McCarthy led the Hawks in scoring with 16 points and also picked up eight rebounds and had three steals. Jontay Walton, who along with McCarthy was named to the All-Tournament Team, scored 12 points.

O'Hara's Cori Dickson was awarded the tournament's Hustle Award.

Alyssa Wagner and Sara Franco scored 13 points each to lead Lockport in scoring. Wagner was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

Hailey Bechtold and Brooklyn Camarra added six points each for the Lions.
