Martin, Israel, Stone and Susice win at Ransomville

Niagara Gazette — RANSOMVILLE — Rain forced officials at Ransomville Speedway to postpone its Mighty Taco Modified main event Friday night but the feature races in other divisions were held before the weather turned.

The rain shortened the Investor's Services Sportsman feature race in the 19th of 25 scheduled laps. Brett Martin of Burt was leading the race and awarded the win.

One week after rolling out a new hot rod, Jaren Israel of Wilson won the 20-lap feature race in the Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock division, taking advantage when Brian Lonneville's mechanical problems cost him the lead in the 18th lap. Israel grabbed the lead and held back a challenge by Mike Greenawalt to take the checkered flag.

Mechanical problems in the seventh lap also cost Anthony Hermanson a chance to win the Fireball main event. Ransomville's Jim Stone took the lead then held back Jim Harbison for the win. Pat O'Keefe, meanwhile, flipped his car after making contact with a concrete wall in the third lap. According to track officials, he "emerged a-okay" though his car was seriously damaged.

Fellow Ransomville resident Austin Susice took the flag in the Gippster’s Collision 4 Banger feature main race.

To make up for Friday's rain, Ransomville Speedway will host a double main event in the Modified division next Friday, May 17.
