Bisons fall at Charlotte, 3-0

Niagara Gazette — The Buffalo Bisons could produce only three hits and were shut out Monday night by the host Charlotte Knights, 3-0, at Knights Stadium.

Buffalo's best chance to get on the scoreboard came in the top of the sixth innings, when Mauro Gomez slugged a hot shot toward the center field fence that was snared at the wall by Charlotte center fielder Jim Gallagher. The catch kept the game 1-0 in favor of the hosts at that point.

The Knights added two more runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Mike McCoy, Eugenio Velez and Kevin Pillar had Buffalo's hits.

Thad Weber (3-2) took the loss for the Herd, pitching seven innings, surrendering six hits and two runs (both earned) while striking out four. Zach Stewart (5-9) was the Knights' winning pitcher while Donnie Veal got the save.

Buffalo and Charlotte conclude their series Tuesday. The opening pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
