Sabres ink Weber to new deal

Niagara Gazette —

The Buffalo Sabres announced late Thursday that they've signed defenseman Mike Weber to a contract extension.

The Sabres would only call it a multi-year extension though Weber, via his Twitter account, said he was "really excited to be staying in Buffalo for 3 more years." His salary under the extension was not disclosed.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., the 6-foot-2, 211-pound Weber appeared in 42 games in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, leading the team with 92 blocked shots. Over parts of the past five seasons, Weber has tallied 32 points (six goals, 26 assists) and 236 penalty minutes in 174 games.
