HS ROUNDUP (Oct. 7): Curry nets hat trick in Wilson victory

Molly Curry had three goals to up her season total to 15 as Wilson downed Cheektowaga, 9-0, in non-league girls soccer action Monday.
Kim Daunce, Mary Smith, Amber Racette, Crystal Caldwell, Kaitlyn Thompson and Katie Magoon also scored for Wilson (5-6-1 overall). Katie Kiely and Daunce split the shutout.
No information was available for the Warriors.
V-Aquinas 0, Grand Island 0
Kristen Wegrzyn made 21 saves as the host Vikings tied the Little Irish from Section V. Jeannie Taylor and Sara Wilczak were strong on defense for Grand Island (7-2-2 overall), while Jamie and Jenna Raepple provided several offensive chances. Kate Perry earned the shutout for Aquinas (10-1-2) with 19 saves.
Roy-Hart 1, Barker 0
The Lady Rams gained that elusive first Niagara-Orleans League victory of the season by edging the Lady Raiders on a goal by Sarah Zakrzewski at 37:37 of the second half. Sam Smith earned the shutout in goal for Roy-Hart (1-6 N-O). Barker dropped to 0-7.
O’Hara 3, Park 3
In a non-league contest at Park, Dyana Williams had a pair of goals for the Hawks (5-3-2 overall), while Jen Bognar also had a goal. Alex Gould had a hat trick for Park.
Boys Soccer
Holland 2, Tonawanda 1
In ECIC IV play at Clinton Small Stadium, the Warriors got a first-half goal from Chris Vanderbrook, assisted by Stephen Linderman, but couldn’t hang on for the victory. Tom Fendrick added solid defense for the Warriors (1-5 ECIC IV). Josh Radecki scored to tie it and Robert Pratt had the game-winning goal for Holland, which improved to 4-2-1 in league play.
GIRLS TENNIS
N-W 3, Grand Island 2
Angela Hastings knocked off Alex Buscaglia in three sets at first singles to help the Falcons improve to 10-1 in the Niagara Frontier League. Hastings moved to 11-0 on the year. The first doubles team of Kelsey Walck and Megan Cavanaugh also won in three sets for N-W. The second doubles team of Alissa Accardo and Anna Ferrante won in three sets for GI (6-5).
Ken East 4, Ken West 1
Molly Lundquist won in three sets at second singles to help the Bulldogs move to 8-3 in the NFL. Also winning singles matches for East were Melissa Wilhoff and Kelsey Cox. The doubles tandem of Allie Diamond and Avery Fisher won for West (7-4).
Iroquois 4, Tonawanda 1
Meghan Kossow won at first singles, but the Warriors fell to 4-5 on the year. Devin Grau and Lauren Swaziak won a three-setter at first doubles for the Chiefs (7-3).
Girls Volleyball
Starpoint 3, Frontier 0
Junior middle hitter Veronica Crsoby had 11 kills, 10 service points and six kills to lead the Lady Spartans to a huge non-league win, 26-24, 25-20, 25-17. Starpoint, ranked third in last week’s Western New York large school coaches poll, has swept No. 1 Lancaster and No. 2 Frontier during the past two weeks.
“We’re rolling right now,” Starpoint coach Sue Rexford said. “We beat two bigger schools… they’re both big confidence boosters for us.”
Also for Starpoint (9-0 overall), Coastal Carolina signee Sam Palka had 19 kills, Jackie Szeluga added nine service points and Sydney Palk chipped in with 26 assists. No information was available for the Falcons.
Depew 3, Tonawanda 1
Leah Swartz had six kills as the Warriors fell in non-league action, 25-13, 25-20, 28-30, 25-11. Also for THS (1-10 overall), Amber Lingenfelter had three kills and three assists, Rebecca Warthling added five digs and Sam Marcaccio chipped in with two assists, two aces and two digs. Information for the Wildcats was not provided.
Boys Volleyball
Lancaster 3, N-W 0
Ben Woodbury had nine kills, but the Falsonc fell 25-19, 25-14, 25-23 in non-league action. Shawn Haseley had five kills and Cliff Jacobs added five aces for N-W (4-5 overall). No information was available for the Redskins.

Lew-Port 239, Niagara Falls 267
Kyle Donovan shot a 38 at the par-36 Niagara Frontier Country Club to earn medalist honors for the victorious Lancers in Niagara Frontier League play. Also for Lew-Port (11-1 NFL), Matt Petrosian and Mike Guetta each carded 39s. T.J. Bullock and Greg Bullock led Niagara Falls (2-10), each shooting 40s.
Grand Island 248, Ken East 252
After beating the Bulldogs by three strokes last time, the Vikings won by four on the front nine at Brighton in NFL play. Medalists in at 39 were Ken East’s Pierce Terrance and Grand Island’s Korey DiMatteo. Anthony Coppola and James Schultz posted scores of 40 for Ken East (6-6 NFL) while John Osberg did the same for GI (7-5).
NT 255, Ken West 255
Greg Achramovitch shot 3-over 39 at Sheridan Park to take medalist honors in the first tie of the NFL season. Mike McCrossan added 40 for Ken West (0-9-1), while Darroch Moorehead carded 42. Alex Godfrey and Eric LaBruna each shot 40 for NT (3-6-1).
Albion 222, Roy-Hart 262
In Niagara-Orleans League action at Hickory Ridge, Jon Forder picked up medalist honors with a 38 to lead the Purple Eagles to win the win. Ryan Gurnsey added a 40 for Albion (3-6-1 N-O), while Jeff Folcklemer had a 42 to lead Roy-Hart (0-11).
Akron 235, Barker 264
At the Niagara-Orleans Country Club, medalist Eli Cobti led the Tigers to an N-O win with a 40. Also for Akron (7-2-1 N-O), Al Short shot a 44 and Max Brady had a 48. Topping the Raiders (2-7-1 N-O) was Tommy Budde with a 45.

Jacqueline Greco scored the non-league game’s only goal. Sweeper Aimee Larson and midfielder Brittany Braun played well for the Lady Spartans (2-5-3 overall).
