BASKETBALL: Flynn doubles up in Vegas

Jonny Flynn wasn’t satisfied with his professional debut Sunday.
“First and foremost, we didn’t win the game, and I would say I had too many turnovers,” the Niagara Falls native told HoopsWorld.com after recording 14 points, seven assists and seven turnovers in the Minnesota Timberwolves first NBA Summer League game. “Overall, I would give myself a C.”
The Timberwolves lost again Monday, 96-91, to a select group of NBA Developmental League veterans, but Flynn posted a double-double and had more than twice as many assists as turnovers.
In 32 minutes of action, Flynn trumped his six turnovers with 14 assists. But one of those turnovers came in the waning seconds, when the Timberwolves had a chance to tie the game.
Flynn scored 12 points, hitting 4 of 9 shots from the field, and 4 of 5 free throws. He also contributed two rebounds and a steal.
Paul Harris was again productive off the bench for Minnesota. He had seven points, three rebounds, a steal and a block in 15 minutes. He also converted a 3-pointer for the second straight game.
Harris, who is trying to catch on in the NBA after forgoing his senior year at Syracuse, got some additional playing time since Gerald Henderson sat out the game.
Henderson was the Charlotte Bobcats’ first-round draft pick, but since Charlotte did not field a summer league team, he is playing for the Timberwolves.
The D-League Select team outscored the Timberwolves 30-10 in the third quarter. Minnesota won each of the other three quarters by five points.
The Timberwolves are now off until Friday, when they will face the Washington Wizards.
