The visiting St. Joe’s Marauders opened their Monsignor Martin League AA schedule with a big win, as quarterback Matt Rosenhahn went 14-of-25 for 218 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-8 win over Timon on Friday night. Both passing scores went to Nick Hall, who finished with 63 yards on six receptions and also ran 12 times for 74 yards. Also for St. Joe’s (2-3 overall, 1-0 MMAA League AA), Jeff Bellanca rushed 12 times for 64 yards, while Rosenhahn carried 12 times for 60 yards and a touchdown. T.J. Leber and Tyler Beresford had eight tackles each for St. Joe’s.
Timon (4-1, 0-1) got its lone touchdown in the third quarter when Francis Marinaro caught a 26-yard pass from Connor Kobis.
Depew 21, Albion 0
The visiting Wildcats got a pair of touchdowns from Dan Gorski in picking up the Class B North win. Gorski scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter and later added a 35-yard run in the third quarter. Newfane improved to 4-1 overall and 4-1 in league play, while Albion dropped to 3-2 and 3-1.
Maryvale 45, Newfane 0
Brooks Estarfaa rushed for three touchdowns and scored another on a 48-yard interception return as host Maryvale earned the Class B North win. With the win, the Flyers (2-3, 2-2) set up a win-and-you’re-in meeting at Tonawanda in Week 6.
Newfane fell to 0-5 overall and 0-5 in Class B North.
Walsh 26, Niagara Catholic 22
Mike Richbart finished with three receptions for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but the visiting Patriots couldn’t come away with the Monsignor Martin League A win. Quarterback Chris Glowacki finished 7-of-14 for 106 yards and three touchdowns in defeat.
Also for Niagara Catholic (2-3, 0-2), Antonio Cook rushed 12 times for 108 yards and caught two passes for 24 yards and a score. Defensively, Glowacki finished with 14 tackles, while Cook had eight tackles and a fumble recovery and Jeff Hare had an interception.
Walsh improved to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in League A. Stats were not provided by Walsh.
Alden 35, Medina 0
The Bulldogs opened it up with three scores in the final 15 minutes in scoring the Class B North victory.
Alden remained undefeated on the season at 5-0 overall and 5-0 in league play, while Medina dropped to 1-4 and 0-4.The Mustangs reached the Alden 11, 9 and 31 yard lines in the first six minutes of the game but were unable to dent the goal line.
