Sunday, Sept. 14
- Bass and perch contest at Brauer’s Restaurant, 6612 Campbell Blvd., Pendleton. You must pre-register. The cost is $10. For more information, call 625-8122.
- Fall Warm Up 3-D Archery Shoot, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wilson Conservation Club, Route 425, Wilson. The cost is $5 for members and $8 for non-members. Children under 12 years of age are free. All shoots are open to the public.

Monday, Sept. 15
- Firearms Hunter Safety Training Class at the Hartland Conservationists Club, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Orangeport Road, Gasport. Parts 2 and 3 will be Wednesday and Friday. The class size is limited to the first 30 students. Register at the first class or by phone. You must attend all classes. For more information, contact Walt Whitenight at 778-5288 in the evenings.
- Bowhunter safety training class at Gander Mountain, Tonawanda. Part 2 will be Tuesday. Both classes are from 6 to 10 p.m. You must pre-register by calling 743-2300.

Friday, Sept. 19
- Steelhead pattern fly tying workshop with Pro Jim Guida , 7 p.m., Gander Mountain, Tonawanda. For more information, call 743-2300.

Saturday, Sept. 20
- Start of the 2008 AES/Greater Niagara Fish Odyssey Derby. Continues through Sept. 28. Register at local tackle shops or online at www.fishodyssey.net. The cost is $20 for adults and free for kids 15 and under. Weigh stations are Big Catch in Buffalo; Niagara Outdoors in North Tonawanda; A-1 Bait in Lewiston; The Boat Doctors in Olcott and Narby’s in Orleans County.
- Lower Niagara Walleye Contest sponsored by A-1 Bait and Outdoors Niagara.com from sunrise to 2 p.m. Scales are open from 1 to 2 p.m. at Fort Niagara. Register online or at A-1. Contest is for the best two walleye. Cost is $20 per person for the walleye tournament. For more information, log on to www.outdoorsniagara.com.
- Safe boating certification course by the U.S. Coast Guard (pre-registration and $40 fee required) at Gander Mountain, Tonawanda. Call Steeg at 632-7353 or Dave at 694-2856 to register. The course will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Air gun shooting gallery by the Niagara County Federation of Conservation Clubs, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s free to shoot. For more information, call 743-2300.
