HS ROUNDUP (May 17): Wilson wins second straight boys tennis title

Staff Reports

Wilson clinched its second straight Niagara-Orleans League boys title with a convincing 4-1.5 win over a tough Newfane team on Friday.

“They’re very happy. Especially beating our rival at the buzzer to do it the right way,” said Wilson coach Chris Alex, who’s 24-0 as the team’s coach. “I attribute everything to their mental toughness.”

Tim Carroll and Caleb Rohring shined for Wilson. while Christian Hawkes and Michelle McKernan got the lone win for Newfane (9-3).
