PORTER CUP UPDATE: Sucher, Mitchell tied after round three

LEWISTON — Zack Sucher shot a four-under-par 66 on Friday at Niagara Falls Country Club to pull even with Adam Mitchell for the lead at the 50th Porter Cup.

Both players are at nine-under after 54 holes, having played 36 of them Friday after play was suspended Thursday due to rain.

Mitchell entered the day atop the leaderboard, thanks to a 62 on Wednesday, and solidified his status with a second-round 66. But a 73 in the third round, capped by a double-bogey on the final hole set up a showdown with Sucher that begins at 11:50 p.m. Friday.

Sucher posted a 70 in the second round after birdies on 16, 17 and 18.

Wesley Bryan will also play in the final group. He is four shots off the lead after a third-round 67 that followed a pair of 69s.

Jonathan Hodge (-4), Mike Van Sickle (-3) and Lucas Lee (-3) are also in contention.
