Man arrested after car chase

A reported wild car chase resulted in the arrest of a Falls man after 10 p.m. Friday.
According to police, DeJuan Savage, 23, 711 Eighth St., stole a vehicle in front of a grocery store on Niagara Avenue near 22nd Street.
Officers in the area reportedly followed Savage as he drove at high rates of speed and failed to yield at several stop signs. Police report the vehicle eventually stopped in an alleyway near 16th Street and Linwood Avenue after striking a parked vehicle.
After the accident, police said Savage exited the vehicle and fled from the scene. Officers pursued on foot and eventually caught and subdued him.
He was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for treatment of injuries. While there, officers reportedly questioned him about alcohol and attempted to have Savage perform field sobriety tests.
But Savage reportedly declined, instead asking for his lawyer.
He was charged with first-degree possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and several traffic violations. The accident involving the parked car also reportedly caused more than $3,000 damage to the vehicle he’d allegedly stolen.
