BLOTTER: Police reports published Dec. 23

Niagara Falls

 BURGLARY: Police are investigating a reported burglary which took place between midnight Thursday and 10 a.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of North Avenue. The victim, a 70-year-old woman, said someone broke a window of her garage and removed a snow thrower without permission. Officers report no physical evidence or witnesses at the scene.

 THEFT: Officers are investigating a reported theft from a vehicle which occurred between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 2700 block of Cleveland Avenue. The victim, a 33-year-old woman, said someone entered her vehicle and stole a cell phone charger. Police reported the vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft.

• ROBBERY: Police are investigating a reported robbery which took place at 7:50 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of Niagara Avenue. The victim, a 51-year-old woman, said she was transferring bags filled with presents from her vehicle to her apartment when she felt a tug on one of the bags in her hand. She said she turned around and a black man, described as 6-foot, 200 lbs., was trying to take her packages. She said they wrestled for the bag and it ripped, sending the contents flying. She gathered what she could find while the suspect fled east on Ontario Avenue. Later, she realized the suspect did get away with a bag containing 2 gift cards and four boxes with cash in each. She said the value is $300 total. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

 THEFT: Officers were alerted to a reported shoplifting incident which occurred between 5:49 and 6:17 p.m. at a store in the 1800 block of Pine Avenue. The store manager said customers told her about a man hiding merchandise. She said she approached the black man, listed at 5-foot-8, 150 lbs., and questioned him about what he had. She said he gave back gloves, but he argued with her as he walked to the front of the store and exited with packages of underwear, socks and t-shirts he didn't pay for. She said the merchandise is valued at $35. An employee of a different store told police she recognized the suspect as someone who steals from her store as well.

    Police are investigating a theft from a convenience store in the 2600 block of Niagara Street. A clerk told officers that four suspects, two males and two females, entered the store at 5:32 a.m. Wednesday and one of the women brought several items to the counter and paid for them with a New York state benefit card.

    Police are investigating a burglary in the 2500 block of 29th Street. An agent with the CSX Railroad Security Department told officers that sometime between April 4 and noon Monday, someone forced open the door to a storage shed on his company’s property.
