BLOTTER: Police reports published Aug. 25

Niagara Falls

• THEFT: Police are investigating a reported theft at 1:25 a.m. Saturday from a store in the 2800 block of Pine Avenue. A store employee told officers a black female, approximately 5-foot-3 wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, entered the store, went to the back cooler and placed an unknown assortment of drinks into a backpack before running out the door. He said the customer is a regular and provided a possible address, as well as described the vehicle she may have left the store in as a passenger. The drinks were valued at $20 total.

• ARREST: An Ohio man was taken into custody after trying to enter the United States at a local border crossing. Customs officers notified police of Craig Murray, 23, 425 Sandusky St., Toledo, Ohio, who was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, after he was stopped for reportedly not having his Rugar 9mm firearm registered. Police transported Murray to headquarters. He told police, “I only just bought it a few days ago aren’t I given time to register it?”

• THEFT: Police are investigating a reported theft that occurred between noon Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, and 9:15 p.m. Friday from a residence in the 400 block of 12th Street. The victim, a 27-year-old man, told police he stored his drum set in his attic, which is locked, a year ago, but when he went to retrieve it, noticed the set was missing. He said only he and his mother have a key to the attic. The set was valued at $1,600 to replace, he told police.
