Deputies aid woman who fell down basement stairs

Niagara County Sheriff's deputies and members of Wendelville Fire Co. came to the aid of a 47-year-old Lockport woman who fell down a set of stairs at her ex-boyfriend's house on Monday morning.

Police were called to Dunnigan Road for a report of a woman falling down a flight of stairs. Dispatchers reported that they had lost phone contact with the woman.

Deputies and firefighters entered the home through an unlocked front door and found the woman at the base of a staircase leading into the basement. She was conscious but complained of head pain and was unable to move around.

She said the house was her ex-boyfriend's and she had come out to collect some items that belonged to her. While heading into the basement the railing came loose and she fell. The woman was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban for treatment.

Deputies contacted the ex-boyfriend, who was at work at the time.
