PENDLETON

Deputies aid woman who fell down basement stairs

Niagara County Sheriff's deputies and members of Wendelville Fire Co. came to the aid of a 47-year-old Lockport woman who fell down a set of stairs at her ex-boyfriend's house on Monday morning.

Police were called to Dunnigan Road for a report of a woman falling down a flight of stairs. Dispatchers reported that they had lost phone contact with the woman.

Deputies and firefighters entered the home through an unlocked front door and found the woman at the base of a staircase leading into the basement. She was conscious but complained of head pain and was unable to move around.

She said the house was her ex-boyfriend's and she had come out to collect some items that belonged to her. While heading into the basement the railing came loose and she fell. The woman was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban for treatment.

Deputies contacted the ex-boyfriend, who was at work at the time.

• SHOOTING: Police are investigating a shooting incident in the 600 block of 70th Street. A 29-year-old woman told officers she heard gunfire at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and when she went into her living room she found two bullet holes in a window. 

• THEFT: Officers are looking into a car break-in in the 2400 block of Cleveland Avenue. A 26-year-old man told police that sometime between 12:30 and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday someone broke into his 2008 Chevy Impala by smashing a driver's-side window. The victim said a stereo monitor was taken.

• ARREST: A Falls woman was arrested on drugged driving and other charges after a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Pine Avenue at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday. Maureen Anne Gonzalez, 43, 186 69th St., was charged with driving while under the influence of drugs, reckless driving, failure to keep right, unsafe lane change and no seat belt.

A clerk told officers that four suspects, two males and two females, entered the store at 5:32 a.m. Wednesday and one of the women brought several items to the counter and paid for them with a New York state benefit card.
