Niagara Falls

• ARREST: A Falls man was arrested following a reported fight which occurred at 6:20 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Whitney Avenue. Artis Harris Sr., 37, 1810 Whitney Ave., was charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment after an altercation with a 28-year-old man. The victim told police he was cooking breakfast with his wife when a loud commotion was heard outside. He said they investigated and a fight occurred after the party across the street refused to be quiet. The victim said Harris picked up a dresser near the street, charged him and knocked him to the ground. Then, he said, Harris attacked him with a knife. When officers arrived at the scene, Harris claimed the fight was “mutual combat” and asked officers to let him go.

• STOLEN VEHICLE: Police are investigating a reported stolen all-terrain vehicle from a trailer parked in a side lot to a residence in the 400 block of 21st Street. The victim, a 58-year-old man, told police between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, persons unknown cut cable locks holding the vehicle to its trailer, rolled it off and took it into the alley near the home. Police report no physical evidence at the scene.

• THEFT: Police are investigating a reported theft which occurred between 2:17 and 2:50 a.m. Saturday from a hospital in the 600 block of 10th Street. The victim, a 47-year-old woman employed at the hospital, said a man entered the emergency room complaining of a swollen hand. The man reportedly identified himself and said he was staying at a local homeless shelter. He then, when no one was looking, reached over the counter and stole a purse and its contents, valued at $150. The man was reportedly spotted running out of the hospital on surveillance footage leaving through the south exit and running south on 10th Street. Officers report unsuccessfully searching for the man at the homeless shelter.

• ARREST: A Falls man was arrested following a shoplifting incident at 6:55 p.m. Friday from a store in the 1500 block of Military Road. Anthony Rogers, 25, 1957 Cudaback Ave., was charged with petit larceny after a store employee alleged he took a pair of shoes from the store’s shoe department, put them on and attempted to leave without paying for them.
