Two charged after suspicious vehicle stopped

Falls police were called to the 400 block of Buffalo Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday by State Parks Police for a suspicious car parked behind a building.

Parks police said they were patrolling the Robert Moses Parkway when they noticed the car parked behind a hotel on the 400 block of Buffalo Avenue. 

When they attempted to investigate, the vehicle took off but stopped a short distance later. 

When approaching the vehicle parks police said they noticed several pieces of copper pipe in the back seat. 

Checking the area where the car had been parked near the hotel, Falls police said they found a shopping cart nearby and an open door on the south side of the hotel.

Inside the car, police found four hypodermic needles in the purse of Christina G. Feathers and suspected crack cocaine in pack of cigarettes in rear of vehicle.

Mark A. Maroney, 28, 1344 Elmwood Ave., Apt. 2, was charged with third-degree burglary, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree possession of stolen property.

Feathers, 24, 3115 Park Ave., Youngstown, was charged with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and fourth-degree possession of stolen property.

• ASSAULT: A resident on the 1000 block of Ferry Avenue told Falls police he heard a loud commotion outside his home about 11 p.m. Tuesday, went outside and found his neighbor lying on the sidewalk bleeding from wounds to his head. Another man was on the other side of the street walking away and when he noticed the man, yelled, "Stay the (expletive) in the house," and flashed a black handgun. The man also noticed another man walking away down Ferry Avenue. The victim said the two men came to his door and asked if he had been knocking on their door earlier in the evening. The victim said he told them that it was him but he was looking for a friend. The two men then attacked him, hitting him in the back of the head with an unknown object and then dragging him to the sidewalk where they kicked and punched him. The victim refused medical attention at the scene.

• ASSAULT: A 22-year-old Falls man told police he was walking through Hyde Park, near the veterans monument, about 10:30 a.m. Monday when a man he knows approached him and punched him the chest, knocking him to the ground. The victim said he briefly blacked out. While on the ground, the victim said the suspect took his Verizon Envy 3 cellphone and $20.

• THEFT: A resident on the 2000 block of Ferry Avenue told police that sometime Monday night someone entered their unlocked car and took their wallet, a set of house keys and an $800 stereo system. The resident said they usually leave the car doors unlocked and haven't had a problem in the past.


• THEFT: A Sims Road man reported to Niagara County Sheriff's deputies Monday that someone took a black tonneau cover from his truck on Oct. 15 while it was parked at a bowling alley on South Transit Road. Deputies went to the bowling alley and were provided video surveillance of the theft. The video showed three men pull up in a pickup truck and take the cover from the victim's truck. A copy of the surveillance footage was provided to deputies who are following up the matter.
