• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 500 block of Ninth Street. A 74-year-old woman told officers that sometime between Sept. 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday, someone entered her garage through an unlocked door. The victim said a lawnmower and snow blower were taken.
• DWI: Samuel M. Ballachino, 46, 5908 Tonawanda Creek Road, Lockport, was charged with DWI and a traffic violation about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Niagara County Sheriff's deputies. Ballachino was charged following a traffic accident on East Canal and Tonawanda Creek roads. Deputies said he appeared intoxicated and had to use the vehicle to keep his balance when he got out of his car. He refused to take field sobriety tests or submit to a breath test.
• BURGLARY: Hand tools worth $100 and copper wiring worth $2,500 were reported taken from a building in the 2900 block of Carney Road on Saturday. A representative of the building owner said the building had last been checked one week earlier and all was fine. Niagara County Sheriff's deputies checked the building and found an open window, with its screen on the ground in front of it, as well as a pair of bolt cutters on the floor inside the building, away from where the tool normally would be stored. Deputies also documented a message, written on a wall in blue painters tape, that read, "you are going to die."
• CONTEMPT: David L. Serrano, 41, no permanent address, was charged at 5:52 a.m. Monday on Meadow Drive with second-degree criminal contempt. He was held for court.
