• ROBBERY: A 34-year-old Falls woman told police she was about to enter the front door of her home on 18th Street about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday when a man came up behind her and put a handgun to her back. The man then took her handbag and ran north on 18th Street. The woman’s boyfriend, who was in the house at the time, gave chase but lost the suspect after he got in to a car in a nearby parking lot and sped off. The victim provided police with a possible suspect but they were unable to locate him. The bag contained $100 and personal papers.

• LARCENY: A Caledonia Street woman told Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday she had been receiving suspicious phone calls from a person who identified himself as a lawyer. The unknown person reportedly told the woman she owed money on a loan and was in danger of facing criminal charges including fraud and bank conspiracy. The unknown caller said if she did not pay the money immediately, the police would be at her doorstep in 45 minutes to arrest her on the charges. The woman was reportedly instructed to go to Rite Aid and buy a PayPal “Money Pak” card for $500, which she did. When deputies arrived, the woman called PayPal to cancel the transaction and her money was refunded.
