YOUNGSTOWN — Niagara Falls

• ROBBERY: Police are searching for a suspect in an attempted robbery in the area of Falls Street and Portage Road. A 49-year-old man told officers he was walking in the area at 4:20 a.m. Monday, when a man approached him and punched him in the chest and then struck him in the chest with a “billy club.” The victim said the suspect did not take anything from him. Officers said the victim was “highly intoxicated.”

• RIFLE FOUND: A rifle, which the owner reported fell off his pickup Saturday, was found by a Strauss Road resident on Lockport Road and turned over to the sheriff’s office. The man who found the rifle said he was on his way home and saw the saw a black case on the side of the roadway. He found a .308 caliber Ruger rifle inside of the case along with a full 10-round magazine and approximately 50 rounds of .308 caliber ammunition. He brought it home and said he was waiting to see if there was any information in the newspaper about a lost rifle. The missing rifle report was published on Tuesdy. A property management form was completed and the items were secured in a locker.
